The Albertina Sisulu Executive Leadership Programme in Health (ASELPH) supports collaborative research to contribute to health transformation and health education in South Africa

Applied Research

Through ASELPH, faculty from the various universities participate in collaborative research projects to build health policy, systems, and leadership capability.

Faculty determine the research topics, strategies, and methods and the, based on the research findings, also collaborate to complete and publish articles, teaching cases or exercises.

Whenever possible, senior South African researchers are supported by emerging researchers to build broader research capacity and experience while strengthening collaboration within the health system.

This applied research informs ASELPH’s future programmatic offerings and serves as the foundation for executive education offerings and policy seminars.

Research theme areas have included:

  • Baseline household survey
  • Baseline facility survey
  • Hospital quality and cost study
  • Training and incentive structure for Community Health Workers
